Band Book Invitation to National Section 2 Final
Following the bands performances in the highly successful production of Hello, Dolly  at Curve Theate, Leicester, which occupied them to mid January, the band went straight in to rehearsals for the Midlands Area Section 2 Contest. Weeks of hard work with blood, sweat and tears at times, not least from MD Garry Sleath, went in to the Plantaganets by Edward Gregson, a strangely appropriate set piece following the discovery of the last Plantaganet King beneath a Leicester car park!

In the words of the adjudicators "this was a difficult piece when it was written for the Championship Section and remains so today". The band took to the stage from a draw of 9th following the Bilton Band, every player in the band contributed to the performance with Garry singling out Matt Davis, Dave Harrold and Alison Harding for particular praise following exceptional solo performances. Garry was very pleased with the Bands' effort which was also appreciated by the "men in the box" placing the band in second place to Bilton Band, a result which earns us an invitation to the National Finals in September a result with which the band are understandably highly delighted .

On 5th April 2013 the whole organisation met at Leicester Bowls Club to celebrate the achievements of 2012, including the "Bandstand Marathon" and the Wigston Band's run appearing in "Hello, Dolly" at Curve, Leicester.
Following a tasty carvery meal kindly organised by long serving treasurer and retired Bass player Dave Spray, each MD presented their own highlights of the previous year, Matt Davis for the "Horizon Band", Pat Allsop for the "Enterprise Band" and Garry Sleath for the "Wigston Band and distributed awards to players who had served the respective bands throughout the year. Abigail Larding (pictured) was voted "Bandsperson of the Year". President, Noel Sheehan commended Abigail for her involvement at all levels of the organisation, working with the Horizon Band, producing publicity materials and editing the newsletter, "Bum Notes". Well done to all prizewinners.
