Important Notice

It has come to our attention that the recent issue of Bum Notes (the Wigston Brass Band newsletter) was mailed with incorrect postage attached. This was due to a batch of rogue envelopes which, despite being labeled as "small letter" were outside of the Royal Mail's stringent sizing rules by about 10mm. If you have had to pay additional postage for your copy of Bum Notes, please accept our sincerest apologies and we promise to rectify the error by using the correct sized envelopes and selecting our stationary suppliers more carefully for the next issue.

Your support for the Wigston Band via our mailing list is important to us and we see Bum Notes as an important link between the band and our supporters. As such we are committed to improving the content and look of Bum Notes whilst keeping our production costs reasonable. The newsletter has had a significant redesign this issue and we have had to cope with some changes behind the scenes, but we are confident that the few teething troubles have now been ironed out. Despite the extra effort we are now putting into producing each issue of Bum Notes, each quarterly issue will still be free of charge to all of our mailing list members.

Once again we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Leicester Contest 2nd Section Champions 2006

Welcome to The Wigston Brass Band. We are a happy First Section family friendly brass band based in the town of Wigston in Leicestershire.

After a successful few years in the second section, including a visit to the National Finals at Harrogate and winning the LBBA contest in November, we were promoted to the First section from January 2007, establishing our status with good results at the area contests in 2007 and 2008.

Formed in 1902, the band are still going strong 105 years later, based in the Congregational Church Hall in South Wigston, the band is proud to be at the heart of the communities in both South Wigston and Wigston Magna.

Players Welcome

The legendary Spray brothers would like to gracefully retire to the bowling green so we are therefore looking for a Euphonium player and an Eb Bass player.

Applications are invited from a versatile Solo / Principal cornet to complete our talented front row team.

An additional trombone player would be welcomed

Call 0116 2862011 if you're interested or come along to a rehearsal 8:00pm -10:00pm Tuesdays and Thursdays.
