Annual Dinner 2010
On Saturday 27th March 2010 the Band returned to the Dog and Gun, Kilby to celebrate the past 12 months of banding. A pleasant, if long, evening organised by Derek Wadey, was enjoyed by members of both the senior band and the Enterprise band . As is the custom a number of awards and prizes were presented and a fiendishly difficult (for some) quiz comprised this year by  Ian Hayto.
Dog and Gun, Kilby.
Garry "Glyn" Sleath conducts procedings with his review of the past twelve months thanking the Chairman and committee for the hard work over the year. Commenting on some of the highs and lows of the year notable performances and acts of dedication, Garry thanked Becky for her dedication travelling from Birmingham for rehearsals, concerts and contests. Alison and Bob were commended for performances at the area contest while Dave Harrold was judged to have given the performanceof the year on his Euphonium at the Bolsover Contest in September. Emma Butler was delighted to win "Most Improved Player" for her efforts on the back row.
Daves table, deep in thought.
(Maybe thinking "wheres me dinner?")

Ian Hayto gives the answers to the quiz which tested a number of skills including solving anagrams of fellow players names, recognition of famous (and not so famous) band badges The abillity to value various musical instruments (but mainly Flugal horns {no wooden ones!} - wonder what the compiler plays?) was also tested. If memory serves Garrys table won.

Derek  Wadey organised the evening and added to the quiz by asking us to recognise the part, name AND provide the number in the book of excerpts from several christmas carols. Easy if its your part - not so easy for a Bass player to recognise a horn part. Thanks to Derek and Ian for their hard work towards the success of the evening.

Any assistance from Ian?
Mick Vesey concluded the evening with the presentation of the trophy for "Bandsperson of the Year". This is awarded by ballot of the playing members of the band and could quite easily be re named "Most Surprised Look of the Year" as the look on Pete Hardings face when Mick said "put the camera down Pete, you have won" was one of complete astonishment. The trophy returns to the sideboard it has resided on for the past two years when Alison "the wife" won it.
Chris Thornhill
Enterprise Bandsman of the Year

Congratulations!
