| | Garry
Sleath has been the Musical Director of The Wigston Band since 1998. Garry is
a professional teacher and has been Director of Music at the John Cleveland College,
Hinckley, Leicestershire, since 1991. As well as this, he is an experienced player,
playing for many notable organizations including:- Birmingham School of Music,
Jaguar Cars, The Ancient Order of Foresters, Enderby Brass Band and Harry Mortimer's
'Men-o-Brass'. |
| Since
joining the band, Garry has striven to ensure that the band's performances have
consistently reached a high standard, whether playing on concert or contest platforms.
He is noted for his enthusiasm and under his baton the band's repertoire has
evolved, encompassing both modern and traditional brass band music, whilst at
the same time being able to adapt it's programme to suit the occasion. | |

Garry
has also taken the band to many major contests, where they have maintained high
marks and on many occasions beaten bands from higher sections. Garry's determination
was rewarded this year, when the band earned promotion back to the First Section
having won an invitation to represent the Midlands at the National Finals in Harrogate
the previous year and 2 successful years at the Area contest. We
are hoping that Garry will continue with the band for many years to come and that
under his direction the band will go from strength-to-strength |
